Frequently asked questions
A quick guide for homeowners and real estate professionals.
Who we are
What is Crest & Level?
Crest & Level is a Seattle-based home services company specializing in skilled finish work and interior improvements. We focus on the kind of high-craft projects that make a home more functional, beautiful, and livable — from finish carpentry and custom storage to aging-in-place modifications and interior refreshes.
Who do you work with?
We work directly with homeowners, as well as real estate agents, property managers, and estate professionals who need reliable, quality-focused work on residential properties — whether preparing a home for market, settling an estate, or managing an investment property.
Are you licensed, bonded, and insured?
Yes. Crest & Level is a registered home improvement contractor with Washington State, and carries both general liability insurance and a contractor's bond, providing protection for our clients on every job.
What we do
What services do you offer?
Our core services include finish carpentry (trim, molding, built-ins, and detail woodwork), door and window installation, closet and hallway storage systems, aging-in-place modifications, interior painting, kitchen and bathroom refreshes, and small tile installs such as backsplashes and accent areas.
What do you mean by a 'kitchen or bathroom refresh'?
A refresh is a cosmetic update rather than a full gut remodel. This typically includes things like painting cabinets, replacing hardware and fixtures, installing a new backsplash, swapping out a vanity or faucet, or updating lighting. We focus on the visible improvements that have the most impact on feel and resale value — without opening walls.
Do you do finish carpentry and built-in work?
Yes — this is one of our specialties. Whether it's installing crown molding, adding wainscoting, building out a closet system, or constructing a custom shelving unit, we bring a craftsman's eye to finish work throughout the home.
Can you help with accessibility improvements?
Absolutely. We're experienced in aging-in-place modifications — grab bar installation, handrail upgrades, threshold smoothing, wider door clearances, and related hardware changes. These projects are often time-sensitive and emotionally significant, and we approach them with care.
What we don't do
Do you do exterior work?
Generally, no. We keep our focus inside the home. The one exception is trim and finishing work directly associated with a door or window installation — so if we're installing a new exterior door, we'll handle the interior and exterior casing and trim as part of that job. We do not take on siding, exterior painting, gutters, roofing, or general exterior maintenance.
Do you do electrical or plumbing work?
We do not perform behind-the-wall electrical or plumbing work — that requires licensed trades and permits that fall outside our scope. However, we can swap out fixtures, install new hardware, and do finish work around plumbing and electrical elements as part of a larger refresh project. When a job needs licensed trade work, we're glad to coordinate with our network of trusted partners.
Will you handle a full kitchen or bathroom remodel?
Not as a general contractor. We don't manage full-scope remodels that involve moving walls, rerouting plumbing, or rewiring electrical systems. What we do well is the finish layer — the painting, tile, hardware, trim, and cosmetic updates that transform how a space looks and feels without the disruption and timeline of a full remodel.
Do you do exterior painting?
No. Exterior painting is outside our service area. For interior painting — walls, ceilings, trim, cabinets — we're fully equipped and experienced.
Working with us
How do I get a quote?
Reach out by phone or email to describe your project. For most jobs, we'll schedule a brief walkthrough so we can see the scope firsthand and give you an accurate estimate. We aim to be responsive and straightforward — no surprises in the quote, no surprises on the invoice.
Do you work with real estate agents preparing a home for sale?
Yes — and we understand the timeline pressure that comes with listings. Whether it's touching up paint, refreshing fixtures, installing new interior doors, or sprucing up closets before photos, we're experienced at moving efficiently without cutting corners. Reach out early and we'll do our best to fit your schedule.
What areas do you serve?
We primarily serve Seattle and the surrounding communities. If you're unsure whether we cover your area, just ask — we're happy to let you know.
How do I reach you?
You can contact Crest & Level by phone or email. We'll respond promptly and get the conversation started.
